Viking Sword
The Viking sword was a highly effective weapon used by Norse warriors between the 8th and 11th centuries. Evolving from the Roman spatha, it featured a double-edged, straight blade, typically 70–90 cm (28–35 inches) long, designed for slashing and thrusting. Made of high-quality iron or pattern-welded steel, Viking swords were both strong and flexible. They had a distinctive lobed pommel and short guard, offering balance and control in battle. Often richly decorated, swords were symbols of power and prestige, passed down through generations. These weapons played a crucial role in Viking raids, warfare, and their warrior culture.
